Gen. 1 R1S. I had an obnoxious rattle on the top of the dashboard. It only occured when the dash was hot from the sun and on rough roads. SS tried to fix but no luck. I noticed the rattle stopped if I pushed down on the grille where the grille and the leather dash meet. I purchased 5.00 mm black rubber hose from Amazon ( I think it is actually advertised as a fix for the Tesla sunroof wind noise). With the yellow tool that is included, I wedged the hose (patience, it is a tight fit) between the metal grille and the leather the full length of the dash. It is visibly unnoticable and worked perfectly. My guess is the grille expands and contracts with the weather just enough to rub and rattle.
Have you also noticed a scratch line between the the tailgate & the lower section with scratches on that lower painted section? Have only so briefly been on unpaved (but incorporated) roads, but already the friction from fine sand has left a scratch line between the two sections?
(They didn’t consider the design as well as a 1970’s Range Rover).
Planning on sticking a strip of double sided neoprene, or rubber foam on the lower tailgate to protect the joint between the two.

Bought the same kit as OP @Michael and cut off a small section ~7 inches or so and stuffed it under most of the way (in case I need to get it back out) in the middle of the grill. Will update on effectiveness and photos later, going to be very warm here tomorrow.
Can confirm this works very well. Only thing I can hear now are the other rattles in the cab (rear driver side door) and the front suspension.

It’s not the prettiest thing but it does the job and you can’t see it from normal seating views at all.

I have had the dash rattle fixed twice. The first time they fixed it, it turned out to be a clip that was missing on the dash from the factory. The second time this January it was a clip that had broken. During a test drive with the tech for the second time it didn’t rattle but I described it to him and he said he’d check if I had the “revised part”. When I got the car back they’d replaced the dash grille piece with that revised part and it has not made a sound since. Long story short, ask for the “revised part” and you might get lucky.

So it sounds like there are a few ways to mitigate or fix this. Let’s see how long this rubber fix works. At least for me having the nearest service center to me being a few hours away, I’d rather try this for awhile and see how it goes.

Another simple fix for this mid dash rattle (you can press your hand mid dash and it stops) if you have a dash mat is to put a steel plate under the dash mat over the rattling section of the dash. I had a nice plated piece of steel in my scrap pile that fit perfectly in the recessed central part of the dash. It is held in place just sitting there but I secured it with some adhesive velcro. Also could sew a pocket on the underside of the dash mat for it if you sew.
It sits flush with the dash mat so it's not visible. It completely eliminated the rattle.
If anyone is interested I can provide measurements, weight, pictures.

I did the 12" of thin cordage...basically like a shoestring, just shoved in with a plastic tool (very easy) and......it sounds like its completely fixed (fingers crossed).

Edit: ok, maybe not completely fixed...not sure if there is a fix that is going to be 100%.

The weight of the speaker is the culprit for me. I stuffed a towel under it and it's gone for now. We'll see if it comes back or not. My fiancé might ask about where her kitchen towel went though.
