I have the same problem - whistling only when air recirculation was active? Were you able to resolve this? What was the fix? I hadn't taken it in to SC since I keep postponing the appointment (I pushed it out, not the SC). Will likely have the SC address this in Jan.
I have a service appointment schedule for later this month. I'll let you known how it goes.

I can total relate to how this is annoying on any vehicle much less one at this price point.

Try using a painters tape to tape up seams on driver side. Until you eliminate the wind noise. Once you do, each day remove one section until the noise comes back. Hopefully should isolate where it's coming from.

Other option is sell the vehicle of course. Unfortunately service is limited in how much time they can spend diagnosing these types of issues (NVH) and they are slammed right now. Not making excuses just stating the current situation.
Excellent advise and I second the painters tape. Just went through this experiment (gaffer tape works well too) with our C-Max to isolate where the wind noise was coming from after a collision repair (we've had to take it to the shop that did the repair repeatedly and they claim it is gone, but it isn't).

For us it ended up being the small triangular window and from the outside you can see that it doesn't sit flush (like the one on the other side of the vehicle).

This is the comment.

My R1T (early 2022 build) had its triangle windows replaced but the wind noise persists. I‘ve had several loaners since, with later build dates, and they ARE quite WRT wind noise from the door & windows.

So to everyone who claims it’s normal because:
“It’s an EV…”
“It’s a rolling brick…”
“It’s not a luxury vehicle…”
“Well, I don’t notice it…”
go pound sand!

Also, read the account of the guy who just got his R1T back after getting T-boned. They replaced his door and he commented that the new door is way quieter than the old one.
Mine used to be quiet and developed bad wind noise around the driver side triangle window at some point. Really annoying. I haven't yet had it in to try to get it fixed though. So it's definitely a thing.

Mine is quieter than my Audi on the freeway. Quiet and smooth enough that I have to be careful not to wind up going 90+

Had my dual motor R1T delivered in September 2023, same issue with wind noise over ~50 mph on passenger side. I noticed the exterior trim on the passenger side window was not flush with the truck.

tech came out and also noticed the window was not sealing all the way with less than 1 mm gap (not visible to the naked eye). Tech replaced the non-flush trim and reprogrammed the window and it’s back to normal. Definitely more noisy than my Model 3 but it’s also more boxy.

Mine is loud above 45. Liveable so I haven't done anything.

Sadly last winter i left it out and i got a ton of snow on it. Brushed it off as best I could and drove it. It was dead quiet at 65mph. That tells me that it can be quiet and made me a little upset lol.

For me, almost positive it is the part in front of the glass roof. In early builds they had a tendency to push down too hard when adding the piece and the glass roof sticks up a few mm.

Not sure if they ever corrected the process.

Here's how I mostly fixed mine after service center replaced the seal(s) around the driver's triangle window. Seal replacement only marginally reduced the wind noise. The tech pointed to the location before repair so when I got the truck back and it still happened, I placed a piece of tape over the area and drove it above 70 through a notoriously windy area.

Take a look how how well the seal presses against your window. If it's weak, you'll get air ingress:

Mine still wasn't good and thought about how I could get it to press or seal more against the glass, so I bought some weather stripping from HD. One side is adhesive so I left the backing on it. Backing also provides rigidity to the foam which is needed here:

Cut a piece to length and pull out the seal:

The gaol is to insert the foam into that 3/8" wide channel in the seal. It won't go smoothly but with the assistance of a flat, non-marring tool, you should be able to get it in there. Took me several tries.

Keep pushing inwards and it disappears. It has worked pretty well for me. I was thinking of using 2 pieces of this foam, sandwiched with the backing in the middle since wind will still get through when it's particularly windy outside but it is 90% improved for me.

They did correct that particular issue by reprogramming the robot to not apply as much pressure so that plastic piece sticks slightly above the glass roof.

Interesting to note how you corrected it.

Rivian came back and picked up the truck to work on it again.
we ll see what gets done now.

Amen, brother. They replaced my triangle window, jammed foam in there, nothing changes it so I stopped asking. I used to claim it's just normal... Until I got a silent loaner. 80mph on the highway and I would only hear it if it was a crosswind. In my truck, anything over 45 is like background noise from the non-existent AM radio.

I've tried painters tape all around my triangle window and windshield to no avail, I'm pretty sure it's the door seal. It's been on my list to DIY, but low priority.

My earlier build R1T had noise from where the glass roof meets the fascia. On the driver's side front corner, the glass roof was a bit too high. On the passenger side, the fascia was a too high. The Denver RSC found it and had it corrected in less than a day. Once they pointed it out it was pretty obvious to see the cause.

Good luck.

less than a day??? ugh I heard horror stories of a long time when the issue was first "discovered". I'll have to use some tape to see if that's the cause of mine.

I was expecting it to take a few weeks.

Sorry to ask. Did your fascia gap resemble something like this? Attached photo.

My 2nd one is actually very quiet. So yeah, they _can_ make them quiet.
In my many experiences with loaner vehicles (9 times) I would say VINs above 12,000 (R1T) are much less noisy than VINs below. Unfortunately my VIN is early 7,000s and is noisy. But it is "within spec" according to the Normal SC. To be fair they did replace those front forward windows and helped some. Before that it was awful. My $25,000 Subaru Forester with the cvt is quieter.
