I've seen a couple of threads recently about the AC/Compressor noise, and here's my limited anecdotal observation.
I took my R1T in to the Service Center just before the most recent update was released. There was no unusual sound when the AC was running (though I had noticed similar noise when my truck was pre-conditioning for fast charge back in March, but I digress). They gave me a loaner R1T while doing the service on mine. The loaner sounded fine, just like mine for the first couple of days. Then the new update came out to get the alert to stop popping up ever time I got in the truck, I ran the update (even though it wasn't my truck). After the update, I noticed that the AC was much louder.
Two weeks later, my R1T was ready for pickup, so I go back down to the Service Center and swap back to my truck. On the 45 minute drive home, I did not notice any excessive noise from the AC, so I figured maybe it was a just a fluke/error with the loaner and the timing was nothing but a coincidence. When I get home, the prompt for an update comes up, so I run the update. The next day, I take the truck out and very quickly notice that the AC is making that same excessive noise that I had heard in the loaner.
So, for what it's worth, I suspect it's something to do with the latest update and am simply biding my time until the next update comes out to see if it's been addressed.
