Oh really? That’s interesting I suppose I should call and ask again. When I inquired about them they said they didn’t have them in the system or a way to get them as of yet (I suppose this is going to be a store by store scenario). Thanks for the tip though!
Give a couple discounts a call tomorrow. Talk to the manager and I’m sure you can get the Toyo. FWIW I paid $409/tire. I’ve always used discount as well. Also, you can bring the tires you order there to be mounted no issue, that includes the rotate and balance for life. If you’re on the fence buy tires from them so you can deal with the dealer replacement easy provided the manufacturer offers it. I know Falken and Toyo both do.

The Goodyear is my next set. It was designed for the Rivian specifically. Please, read the thread. One of the Goodyear engineers is on it. Cheers.
I understand that and I did read the thread but it’s a 275/60R20 size tire and that’s not what I have. I want to stay with the original 275/65R20 size offered with the 20” All Terrain wheels as I noted in my original post.

I’m in VT as well and ran the studded hakapelitas this past winter and they were awesome! I am definitely interested in the Outpost.
I will install the hakapelitas this winter on my R1T but I am still not decided to go with the studded version or not. I live in the cold and heavy snow Quebec Province but was wondering if the studs add a lot of road noise in dry conditions ? Can you tell from your experience ?

Indeed! I’ve followed all the threads which has really helped my research, but I’m prone to analysis paralysis. It’s a flaw.

The Falkens? Or which option did you go with? But I appreciate this feedback, that’s honestly where I’m at, my commute has been “deleted” now that I work from home, so the bulk of my driving is short trips and around town stuff. So overall I don’t “need” range, but we do use the trucks for road trips and that’s where I feel mild hesitation.

I’d like the Toyos but they’re not available yet via America’s Tire unfortunately!
You can order them online, deliver them to your house, and Americas Tire will install them for like $100 or so

Yes - they add some road noise but the way I see it, is that if you are investing the money in snow tires and you live in a place where you get a lot of snow, go all the way and get the best traction you can get. Even in dry conditions, the truck drove great and did not bother me at all knowing that when it would snow, I had full confidence.

True! But that would prevent me from being able to buy their certificates for damage replacements (something I’ve had to rely upon in the past!)

Have you looked into the Nokian Outpost nAT 275/65? I found out about this tire 6+ months ago while I was trying to help my father select a tire to replace his obnoxiously loud (and surprisingly poor performing, at least in anything slimy) pirelli 20” ATs. I was surprised how little information or anecdote there was about these tires when I first read about them. Perhaps it is because Nokian is relatively new to the AT market? Our heavy equipment tire supplier did say his whole crew ran them for the last year (through last winter) and had nothing but great things to say about them (just another anecdote, but one that got me closer to convinced that they would be suited to our environment—VT throws a lot of mud, mixed precip, and generally low traction surfaces at us throughout any given year).

My father finally took the plunge on these Nokians at 21k miles on his 20” pirelli ATs and described them as “completely changing the vehicle for the better in every conceivable way—silence, at long last, better road feel while being more compliant and absorbing of road imperfections, better traction in the wet and slimy, better tracking, better everything!” I haven’t had a chance to take his R1T out yet, but I did see them in person and they look great. He is generally curmudgeonly about things such as this (Rivian choosing a crappy tire on his fancy new truck), and ran his tires down to not legal—his extremely positive experience so far at least to me indicates they are really vastly better.

I’m now even more excited to burn my pirellis down and move on from them.
I just can’t decide whether to run Hakkas in the winter or try running the outpost nAT year round, since it sounds like they may be one of the few 3 peak snow rated ATs that’s a decently capable tire in the cold months. It seems that this tire is finally getting some traction on this forum too (oof, I know ??‍♂).

José from Rivian tracker seems to be getting same or better range to the factory 20” AT, which is impressive given the Outpost’s added weight (58lbs.)
I love this response. I’m at ~35k on my (very loud) OEM Pirellis and am down to the Nokian Outpost vs the Falken Wildpeak for my replacements. My tire guy priced the job out pretty close to the same. I’ve had Falken’s before on a Tundra and they were great with New England roads/weather….not that I’m overly concerned with range but if the Nokians hit close to equal the OEM and Falkens take an 11% hit, that becomes somewhat substantial.

I'm sure you can buy the certificates still. Plenty of people bought certificates for tires that is not sold by Discount tires itself.

I have 15k on the Toyo OC AT3s (EV version wasn’t available yet). About 5% range hit vs the Pirellis for me (2.22 m/kWh avg). I’ve been happy with them, they have gotten a bit louder as they’ve worn but nothing like the Pirellis were. Highway handling is maybe a slight downgrade vs the originals. Off-road performance is great and they are wearing better than the original tires as well.
I installed the Toyo Open Country AT3s, LT 126 tires, 14,000 miles ago, and can't say enough about them. Yes, they are ~11 lbs heavier than the Pirelli tires, but highway efficiency is actually better than the stock Pirellis, and the around town efficiency is pretty much identical. We recently did a 4,000 mile trip from VA to CO, and averaged 2.12 m/kWh, including ~500 miles above 80 mph, and 250 miles off roading in CO. On highway trips, 66 psi seems to be the sweet spot for efficiency. The wet, dry, and snow traction are much better as well. I am hoping that being heavier load index they last longer than the Pirellis, and based on 14,000 miles so far, it seems like they will (I got 24,000 out of 6 stock Pirellis).

We have the 21" AT's and have 23k on them.....they have probably another 5k left. I would say 99% of the time we drive in ALL-PURPOSE mode.

I am following this thread to see what others are getting. We live in NorCal and where we are located, we might.......M I G H T get an 1" of snow a year. We do get freezing temperatures at times, but nothing dramatic.

You said above the NOKIANS are what your father has and loves them and he is picky about the tires. What is the "per" tire cost?

TIA

They are all much heavier than stock as you mentioned and will affect range, ride, handling somewhat....A trade-off. In your list K02, but off list is the Michelin Defender my top choice for dry/wet, including light off road.
Which rim size are you running the Michelin Defenders on? I thought Michelin didn't have one rated for the weight yet. I wasn't interested in the Platinum line I keep hearing about. I have the 21's and am thinking about switching to 20's just for this tire option.

I'm not as I have 21's as well(UGH)...Waiting for the one we're all waiting for or going to 20's myself for the 275/60-20 option Michelin Defender LTX M/S2

There isn't a 275/55-20 option.
